FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.
The Department of Art and Music seeks an Assistant Professor to teach courses in basic musicianship, music appreciation, and one or more of the following: elementary applied music (especially voice, piano, and/or guitar), history and the performance of jazz, music technology, and/or recording, choral performance, composition, music marketing and/or music management. The successful candidate will be expected to participate fully in the responsibilities of faculty membership including student advisement, curriculum development, assessment, committee membership, and various aspects of college service. Evening and weekend teaching may, at the discretion of the department, be required. Ability and/or interest in on-line teaching desirable.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
An earned doctoral degree in music is preferred. Professional distinction coupled with an appropriate Master’s degree will be considered. Record of successful college teaching including experience at an urban public college, with at least 3 years of community college teaching preferred.
