The music program at the CUNY Graduate Center is one of the premiere doctoral-granting institution in music studies in the world. It offers degrees in five concentrations, composition, ethnomusicology, musicology, performance, and theory/analysis. If you are interested in applying to the program, feel free to contact the executive officer, Norman Carey <ncarey@gc.cuny.edu>, or any of the area heads listed below. If you are in New York, get in touch and we can work out a visit to the facility here.
All students admitted into the Graduate Center music programs will receive tuition remission in the form of a 5-year tuition fellowship. Most Ph.D. and several D.M.A. students will receive a 5-year Graduate Center Fellowship. See the Fellowships and Grants page for details of these and other funding sources.
