The Graduate Center, CUNY DMA candidate in performance and Polish violinist Magdalena Filipczak makes her Carnegie Hall Debut on March 18th at 8PM in a program inspired by the phantasy motive, including master Phantasies by Schubert and Schönberg. Filipczak also showcases selections from her debut Album Essence of Violin, featuring works by Saint-Saëns, Britten, Lutosławski, plus Ravel’s Violin Sonata No. 2, which she recently recorded with the renowned pianist Peter Frankl for their upcoming duo album. Cherchant, a new piece written by Stephen Coxe and dedicated to Magdalena, receives its world Premiere.
Magdalena will be performing on a Nicolò Amati violin kindly lent by the Beare’s International Violin Society in London.
