On Friday, April 23rd at 1:00pm EST, violist Carrie Frey will perform a set of works exploring the instrument’s contrapuntal and lyrical capabilities in a livestream recital from Elebash Hall. The program traces a lineage of string writing from J.P. von Westhoff’s Suite No. 1 in A minor, a precursor to Bach’s famous Partitas and Sonatas, to recent and brand new solo pieces by Jeffrey Mumford, Itzá Garcia, and Adrianne Munden-Dixon that range from rhapsodic to dance-like to fiddle-esque. Pianist Robert Fleitz joins for impressionistic, dreamy works by Rebecca Clarke and Reiko Füting.
