About:
Professor Cohen will examine key elements of Richard Wagner’s political thinking and how they transformed in the context of the 19th century, Wagner’s life and his political activities. Among the key ideas are anarchist humanism, republicanism, nationalism, and anti-semitism. Prof. Cohen will also explore some controversies concerning the place of Wagner’s politics in his music dramas.
