New Work by GC Professor Jason Eckardt to be Premiered by Claire Chase

The Graduate Center Music Program is pleased to share that on October 2nd, 2015, a new work by composition Professor Jason Eckardt will be premiered by Flutist Claire Chase at The Kitchen in New York City, as part of her Density 2036 project.   The new work, “The Silenced” by Eckardt, is a monodrama for the flutist that combines movement, lighting, and staging with extended flute performance. The work is a meditation on those who are muted, by force or circumstance, yet still struggle to be heard. The concert also features premieres by Nathan Davis, Dai Fujikura, Pauline Oliveros, and Francesca Verunelli. Separate recitals of the previous two iterations of the Density 2036 cycle will take place on September 29th and 30th, with the final recital taking place on October 2nd.
