Vocalist Amber Evans and strings player Niccolo Seligmann, members of the medieval duo, Aesop’s Nightingale, presents The Little Songbook, a program of polyphonic songs from the dawn of the Renaissance. Based on Seligmann’s research conducted in Venice in 2024, this program focuses on the Leuven Chansonnier, a miniature 15th-century songbook discovered in 2015. This performance features the unusual technique of playing two voice parts at once on a vielle, a kind of fiddle appropriate to the time of the Leuven Chansonnier, challenging expectations of what a duo can perform.
