Duo Rapide (flutist Roberta Michel and pianist Han Chen) presents an evening of bold and exciting music by Balch, Boulez, León, and Prokofiev. All four pieces have distinct voices: Balch imagined the luminescent webs spun by glowworms, Boulez shocked the world with his high-modernist sound, León envisioned the soul’s journey as a bird, and Prokofiev embraced the neo-classicism during wartime. -Han Chen
